Lending a Helping Hand in Fort McMurray (RM of Wood Buffalo)
When disaster struck Fort McMurray in the spring of 2016, it devastated thousands of people, their homes and their businesses. Because of the many projects Norseman Structures has worked on over the years with the people at the RM of Wood Buffalo (Fort McMurray and area), when employees heard of the community’s dire situation, there was a strong desire to lend a hand.
After considering a number of options based on their rebuilding needs, the RM of Wood Buffalo opted for a new community salt and sand storage facility. Norseman Structures, along with support from eight of their partner companies, were proud to help by supplying them a brand new, 6,400 square foot fabric building in the landfill site in South Fort McMurray. Total cost of the building project would typically be valued at over $200,000.
The building and installation crew arrived on site on August 22, 2016 and drove away on September 6, 2016 leaving the RM and the community with a bright and spacious building for storing salt and sand, keeping them ready for quick deployment this fall/winter season.
In the true spirit of lending a helping hand, eight of Norseman Structures’ partners donated their time and materials to pull this project together. Partners included:
o Canadian Overhead Door Services Ltd.
o Eclipse Engineering Inc.
o Edge Transportation
o Exceptional Innovation Inc.
o Jerol Technologies Inc.
o Lock-Block Alberta
o Overhead Door Co. of Edmonton
o United Rentals
