Norseman Structures partnered with Charles Lawrence Surfaces and Willmott Dixon on the construction of a new Indoor Football and Rugby Facility at Oxford Academy in Oxford, UK. Construction of the custom 115' w x 195' l 35.1m w x 59.4m l structure began on July 18th and was completed on August 19th. Norseman Structures was chosen as the preferred supplier for this project due to its excellent track record in building similar facilities in the United Kingdom.
Within 5 days of the containers being unloaded at the Oxford Academy, all 13 bays of the steel frame are installed. Fabric covered buildings typically require less lead and installation time than conventional construction, which means we can help you get your project up and running faster.
After 4 days off site to allow for construction of the sports surface sub-base, Norseman's install crew returned to site to start pulling the fabric panels. Three full panels were pulled by the end of the first day - always the slowest day allowing for set-up. This totals 5167ft2 480 m2 enclosed in one day.
Very productive second day of installing the fabric. 6 full bays pulled today totaling 10,334ft2 960m2 overall. That makes a total of 15,501ft2 1440m2 building covered in just two days!
Our install crew pulled the last bays of fabric today. A total of 20,670ft2 1920 m2 of building covered in only two and a half days!
Work resumed today on erecting the endwall steelwork in preparation for install of the fabric.
The endwall fabric is now being installed. Final tensioning and termination of endwall covers to be finished before starting to trim around the fan, ventilator and door openings.
Lighting units have been erected and framed openings are being prepared for accessories to be installed. Powered fans and louvers have been framed out and fitted. Openings for personnel doors and vehicle access door are formed.
Norseman Structures completed our project on August 19th. All door installations, lighting and fabric is complete. Our building partners, Charles Lawrence Surfaces, have completed the pitches and rebound boards. It is all systems go for the grand opening of the new training facility.
